Great for the "old" developer

As the authors note, this is written for people who know PL/SQL inside and out but don't have a clue about java and JDeveloper - my exact position. The first read through gave me a clearer picture, and the subsequent reads are finally lifting the fog.

Very good introduction to web develepment...

This is an excelent book for begining web development, it explains you step by step how things work and "glue" together. The only reason for me to give it 4 stars is that, in the book it explains how to build part of an application (tuhra) and it tells you to look for the rest (of the app.) on the web site..... I looked for it but it is nowhere to be found... (they only have the parts of the app. that you develope while doing the books excercises).

This book served well our need to train Oracle Forms developers in JDeveloper/ADF. The first part is a good technological review, the second a hands-on to build an application that not only tells what to do and how to do it, but explains it fully. It was useful even after attending formal Oracle training.

Perfect Jewish songbook for a young kid

My 6 year old is just starting to learn piano, and he is just now getting introduced to chords and playing with both hands at the same time. It is always encouraging when a kid can sit at a piano, and instead of playing songs he has never heard (like "Merry Melody" or "Happy Hands"), he can hear a familiar tune come out of the piano that he is playing. This book fills the need perfectly. Most songs involve only 1 hand playing the complex part (it may switch left to right, but no combos), and if both hands are playing, often the left is just playing whole notes. Most of the songs don't use the black keys either. The print is bold and clear, and your child will be tapping out I had a little dreidel, Svivon, and Maoz Tzur in no time. You won't be booking any gigs with these arrangements, but that's not the point. They are ultra-simple, and great to build some confidence. As the child progresses, Al Hanism and Mi Y'malel are both a little more complex (but they are at the back). Recommended and worth the moeny for a child to learn.

I am very pleased with this music scores. My 6 year old daughter enjoys playing them. She knows some of them from her favorite cartoons (Little Einstein's, etc...),

That is actually the reason I ordered it - she wants to play the tunes she loves.

Different text, SAME ILLUSTRATIONS USED IN THEIR OTHER BOOK(S).

While the information contained herein is very useful, the pictures used as examples are the same (exact) pictures used in some of their other books; which made me feel somewhat slighted that they did not use different illustrations from one book to another. They just used the same pictures and added different text. The other book was 'Making Faces: Drawing Expressions For Comics And Cartoons'...

Really great book! Just what I have been looking for

I am learning to draw and it seems most books start you assuming you already know. That is not the case with me. I became frustrated with not even being good enough for the past drawing books. I don't feel that way with this book. After 5 minutes of reading I tried a sketch or two and you know what? They were FAR from good but they were a start and I could see possibilities. Thank you so much for sharing in this book!

exceptional range of work

I teach Native American literature. Since the publication of this book I have been unable to exclude it from my syllabus. Students almost unanimously have endorsed this choice, even when they had to shell out the money for the hardcover. Now that it is in paperback, no one should exclude it.
I only regret that an anthology of similar quality of organization, focus, and selection does not exist for male and female Native writers.

Spellbinding Women's Literature

I bought this book out of my interest in Indian literature, but found that it resonated as deeply with my non-Indian womaness. Simple and clear, the writings take you all over the place and bring you back to yourself. Thanks to my Indian sisters.

I used this book for an ethnography/field methods class and generally enjoyed it.
It's very informative, and lays out everything you would encounter while conducting field work or an ethnography in an easy to follow manner.
I originally rented it, but I think I'm going to buy it.
I will say this though, you definitely learn a lot more by doing out in the field than from any book you will ever use.

Available Again!

I have been hoping for the longest time that this book would become available again! This paperback version is larger than the hardcover one, but I don’t mind that. I actually appreciate the bigger font size (it does make it easier to read). The front cover is so neat and included inside are some beautiful pictures of old holy cards that really add to the book. Overall, I am very pleased with this reprinted version and am happy not to have to pay an exorbitant amount for it!
As for the content of The Prisoner of Love itself, it is most excellent in every way! If ever I find my fervor growing cold, reading this book definitely helps to increase my love for Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. And I truly feel that this is one of the books that need to be read during these dark and dangerous times that we are living in. It is assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and visiting Our Lord that is the answer to the many problems that we face… Highly recommended! :)

Detailed, Lengthy prayers leaves nothing unsaid

I love the vocabulary of the prayers because it does not leave anything undone or unsaid. I enjoy that there are prayers for situations such as loneliness, feeling unloved, and other emotions that we may keep to ourselves. I found this book at the library about three years ago and I finally decided to buy it because I wanted to own it and not borrow it. It may be very wordy for some but if you are one who likes detailed and lengthy prayers then this is the book for you.

prayers that touch the soul

This is a beautifully "channeled" collection of prayers that speak directly to the soul's needs. It is a insightful and positive, bringing encouragement for those of us who embrace change and those of us who don't. Prayer is a simple tool available to everyone, no matter your faith or beliefs.
