Not what I thought it would be.

I hate to write a "negative" review because I know that books speak to people differently, but I wanted to share my thoughts in an effort to be helpful. I bought this book after our family of 10 lost our house in a fire. I was hoping that it would encourage me with faith deepening wisdom and how to glorify God through our trials. It just wasn't that. If you are in the process of being sanctified and have been through years of trials and have endured, this book will likely be more "milk" to you instead of meat.

I really tried to like this book

I really tried to like this book. Even before I got to page 30 there were two typos. Very distracting. I could not relate to Downs, lots of rambling about her childhood, tv shows she likes to watch. This book didn't have enough "meat" for me.

Easy read, but lacking depth and relatability

Annie's book is a quick and easy read. It's light, descriptive, and very relatable for young, single women. I finished the book, but I was a little disappointed with it. I read it expecting to hear more about how God taught her to "look for the lovely," but it felt more like a bunch of short stories. The short stories are entertaining and enjoyable to read, and I really appreciated her honesty and vulnerability, but I felt like the book was pretty hard to relate to as a mom of 2, and that it lacked the depth I was hoping for when I picked up this book.
